Pediatric Urology and Regenerative Medicine Research Center (PURMRC), affiliated to Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS), has been established since 2007 aiming at research and advancement of science and technology in the area of pediatric urogenital disorders and production of novel treatments based on regenerative medical approaches. Exploration in science and advances in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of urological diseases are encouraged and supported in PURMRC's dynamic and active environment. Recognized pediatric urologists and basic scientists work collaboratively to delve into pathophysiology of diseases at the tissue, cellular and intracellular levels to translate their findings into improved care and diagnosis, and to create applied and novel treatments for so-far unresolved medical needs. PURMRC's scope of research is focused on genitourinary malformations, uro-oncology & urogenital neoplasms, cell therapy, tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, and production of natural scaffolds
Vision:
Situated at the country’s pediatric center of excellence and largest medical university of Iran (TUMS), PURMC is seeking to become the most credible focal point of research on urogenital system and related diseases in Iran and the region. We aspire to establish the basis and foundation of effective cure for pediatric urology diseases and incurable disorders. Research and development of novel tissue, cell and stem cell based as well as cell and tissue manipulations are on the agenda of this center.
Mission:
Our policy is to move forward in accordance with the holistic scientific map of the country issued by the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution and to consolidate within the framework of the holistic scientific map of healthcare issued by the Iranian Ministry of Health and Medical Education. Our missions include:
1. To develop and improve the knowledge of diagnosis and treatment of urogenital diseases
2. To develop and promote regenerative medicine and related technologies, and to disseminate this filed of science among public, students, researchers and clinicians via educational programs and publications
3. To engineer and construct experimental tissues and organs and ultimately to create tissues and organs transplantable to patients on a clinical scale
4. To accelerate the translation of scientific findings into therapeutic products and tangible clinical services, and, ultimately to enhance patient care and welfare
5. To collaborate with other national and international well-known medical and academic centers to expand cell therapy, gene therapy and regenerative medical sciences and technologies
